intro
Sarah & Gannon are planning their wedding for next year and their love of Boston made it an easy choice to celebrate their engagement with an iconic romantic portrait session within the city. Both adore the charm of the Boston Public Garden and the surrounding historic neighborhoods. They wanted their portraits to feel deeply connected to the city, using the locations themselves as framing elements to create timeless images. We intentionally scheduled their session for the early morning hours, and it resulted in some of the most beautiful engagement portraits of the year.
An Early Morning for Dreamy Light & an Intimate Experience

Commonwealth Avenue Mall
We began our session along the elegant Commonwealth Avenue Mall. This tree-lined promenade is one of Boston’s most beautiful spaces, stretching from Back Bay to the Public Garden, blending historic charm with stunning nature. At dawn, the long colonnade of tall trees filtered the rising sun, casting gorgeous beams of light through the canopy. The soft light and long grassy paths created a perfect stage for both romantic close-ups and natural action portraits of Sarah & Gannon strolling together.
ARE YOU RECENTLY ENGAGED?
Hi, I’m Greg — a Boston wedding and engagement photographer.
If you’re dreaming of engagement photos that feel personal, cinematic, and true to your love story than you’re in the right place!
I’ve photographed hundreds of couples across Boston’s most iconic locations (and plenty of hidden gems, too), and I believe that your experience should feel just as good as the images look. Let's connect, I'd love to hear about your ideas for your Boston engagement and wedding day!
The Lagoon at Boston Public Garden
Next, we ventured into the heart of the Boston Public Garden, capturing a series of dramatic, romantic portraits by the Lagoon. The sun remained low, providing opportunities for breathtaking backlit images. The calm, mirror-like water perfectly reflected both the couple and the surrounding beauty, adding to the dreamy quality of these portraits.
George Robert White Memorial
One of my personal favorite spots in the Public Garden is the George Robert White Memorial. This spot is a hidden gem tucked away in the northwest corner of the park. The classical styled granite fountain sits slightly elevated on a plinth, allowing us to create compelling portraits that frame both the couple and iconic views of the Boston skyline beyond. It’s always a treat to bring couples here. Many people walk right past without realizing this stunning location is just steps away.
The Footbridge in the Public Garden
The iconic footbridge over the Lagoon is one of my favorite landmarks in the Boston Public Garden. Its timeless design perfectly complements the elegance of the entire garden.
We explored the area around the Lagoon, using the bridge and surrounding skyline as dynamic backgrounds. The variety of angles made for a beautiful sequence of images that highlight both the couple and the essence of the Garden.
Beacon Hill & Acorn Street
For our final location, we wandered into Boston’s beloved Beacon Hill neighborhood. Known for its cozy, historic character, the area is filled with narrow cobblestone streets and charming brick architecture dating back more than a century. I love capturing photographs here because every corner offers an opportunity to create timeless portraits. Sarah & Gannon were a joy to work with, and their natural chemistry made every image shine. We ended with a quiet visit to Acorn Street, perhaps the most famous historic photo location in Boston. In the soft morning light, it felt both intimate and magical — the perfect closing chapter to their session.
