Getting Ready at the Harvard Club
Lindsay and Jacob, both Harvard Law School alumni, decided to have the Harvard Club of Boston as the setting for their wedding day preparation and reception. This historic venue, a cornerstone of Boston’s cultural and intellectual life, symbolizes timeless elegance. As a wedding photographer, I was thrilled by the rich wood paneled rooms, grand staircases, and glowing fireplaces. Lindsay got ready in the beautifully preserved Aesculapian Room, a space that felt like stepping back in time with its intricate architectural details. It was the perfect setting for capturing the delicate details of her wedding gown and accessories.

A First Look to Remember
As a Boston wedding photographer, I always recommend a first look for couples who want to create an intimate and emotional moment before the ceremony. Lindsay and Jacob’s first look took place on the grand staircase in the Harvard Hall Foyer, a breathtaking space that set the tone for a day filled with elegance and romance. Their reactions were filled with joy, excitement, and a touch of happy tears. This is exactly the kind of raw, heartfelt moments I love capturing. I would highly recommend reading my resource article on this topic if you are considering a first look for your wedding day.

Portraits at the Harvard Club and Commonwealth Avenue
The Harvard Club provided endless opportunities for stunning wedding portraits. I started with the groom and his groomsmen, capturing their polished look in front of the grand staircase. Inspired by the golden hues of the autumn leaves outside, I then took them outside to Commonwealth Avenue, where the contrast of historic Boston architecture and fall foliage created a sophisticated cityscape. Later, I reunited with Lindsay to take bridal portraits that highlighted her timeless elegance against the rich textures of the club’s interiors.

A Stunning wedding Ceremony at Old South Church
Lindsay and Jacob exchanged vows in one of Boston’s most breathtaking wedding venues, Old South Church. Built in 1873, this Venetian Gothic masterpiece is a dream location for couples looking for a dramatic and unique wedding ceremony. With its stained glass windows, towering ceilings, and intricate woodwork, the space felt both grand and intimate at the same time.
Before stepping inside, guests were greeted by the striking exterior of Old South Church, which stands as a defining feature of Copley Square. Its iconic Campanile tower, pointed arches, and richly detailed stonework set it apart from anything else in the city. As a Boston wedding photographer, I love how the surrounding area adds to the experience. This includes bustling streets, the historic Boston Public Library nearby, and the modern skyline towering above. The mix of old-world grandeur and contemporary energy makes this one of the most dynamic locations in all of Boston, creating an unforgettable backdrop for wedding portraits.
Despite the vastness of the church, their ceremony was deeply personal. Lindsay’s father escorted her down the aisle, and several of their Harvard professors delivered heartfelt readings. The combination of historic architecture, warm candlelight, and emotional moments made for some truly unforgettable wedding photography.

A Grand Reception in Harvard Hall
Following the ceremony, guests returned to the Harvard Club for cocktail hour in the intimate foyer before transitioning to the Harvard Hall for the reception. With its dark wood paneling, grand fireplaces, and high ceilings, this space felt straight out of a period drama. This made it perfect for a couple who wanted a wedding with both classic elegance and modern vibrancy.
As a Boston wedding photographer, I always aim to capture not just the big moments, but also the small, fleeting ones—the laughter over cocktails, the quiet exchange of glances, the pure excitement on the dance floor. And this reception had it all!

A Ballroom-Worthy First Dance
Lindsay and Jacob made an unforgettable entrance into Harvard Hall, where they performed a dramatic ballroom waltz for their first dance. Ending with an epic dip, their performance felt straight out of a movie, and their guests cheered as they took their final pose. Their first dance was the perfect blend of romantic and cinematic, making for some of my favorite shots of the night.

Heartfelt Speeches & Family Dances
The reception continued with heartfelt toasts from Lindsay’s father, the best man, and the maid of honor. Their speeches were filled with warmth, humor, and touching memories resulting in plenty of happy tears and laughter from the couple and their guests.

A Dance Floor to Remember
After the formalities, the dance floor came alive with energy! The combination of a live band, incredible lighting, and an enthusiastic crowd made for an electric celebration. As a Boston wedding photographer, I love capturing couples who want a wedding that’s both timelessly elegant and full of fun, and Lindsay and Jacob’s night was the perfect example.

An Unforgettable Celebration
Once the formalities were over, the dance floor came alive as guests celebrated the night away. Between the elegance of the venue, the heartfelt moments, and the stunning portraits, Lindsay and Jacob’s wedding at the Harvard Club of Boston was a truly unforgettable event.
