There is something remarkable and unique about a story love like Charlee & Pat. These two individuals are not just simply in love- they are also incredibly fun and goofy to be around. This dramatic made their engagement session at Maudsley State Park an absolute dream to photograph.
If you have never been there before, I highly recommend it. Maudsley State Park, in Newburyport MA, is a nearly five hundred acres nature persevere one hour north of Boston. It is filled with scenic grassy prairies, dense woods, a botanical garden, and a network of carefully design trails connecting it all. It is well worth a visit.
Why Maudslay State Park?
It is easy to see way Charlee and Pat specifically chose Maudslay State Park in Newburyport for their engagement session. The park’s rich natural beauty and cozy atmosphere make it a perfect spot for photos. But for Charlee and Pat, Maudslay there is a reason that is even more special—this is where Pat proposed! The park's rolling meadows, lush woodlands, and blooming gardens created a stunning backdrop that brought their love story full circle.
A warm summer evening in Newburyport
The time for Charlee and Pat's engagement session was specific set for late in the day on a warm, cozy, summer day. This was done intentionally so that precisely when the sun would be low in the sky, streaming through the trees at an almost horizontal angle, the couple would be enveloped in soft, golden light. This experience would mirror the dreamy and playful style of their relationship. The way the sunlight filtered through the trees and illuminated their laughter was pure magic, making each moment feel intimate and timeless.
Portraits in the Botantical Garden
Without a doubt my favorite part of the session was photographing portraits of Charlee and Pat inside the ruins of the Maudslay Mansion, which has been converted into a Botanical garden. The landmark has a strong almost dream like quality about it that compliments the couple's joyous relationship as well as Charlee's love of flowers. Surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant blooms, the couple’s playful and loving connection felt even more alive. The historic charm of the garden’s stonework, paired with the natural beauty of the flowers, provided a stunning setting that added an extra layer of romance to their portraits.
Portraits filled with love and laughter
Charlee and Pat are not only an amazing couple but also a dream client because of how effortlessly their unique personalities shine through in the portraits. Their goofy, light-hearted nature made the session so much fun, and their genuine connection was evident in every frame. Whether they were strolling hand in hand through the park’s picturesque trails or sharing a laugh under a canopy of trees, Charlee and Pat’s love was beautifully captured in the natural, serene environment of Maudslay State Park.
