Where vintage charm meets luxury wedding sophistication

Peirce Farm at Witch Hill stands out as one of the most elegantly traditional wedding venues in the Greater Boston area. Nestled in the picturesque town of Topsfield, just a half-hour drive from the bustling city, this venue offers a charming ensemble of structures: a Victorian Mansion and a historic barn, both meticulously restored to blend luxury with rustic charm. Set amidst acres of lush homestead and encircled by majestic, dense trees, the grounds offer a secluded and intimate setting for your wedding day, ensuring privacy and tranquility.

The Mansion

The heart of Peirce Farm at Witch Hill is undoubtedly the Mansion, a splendid transformation from its original 1821 Georgian style to a Second Empire Victorian masterpiece by Colonel Thomas Wentworth Peirce. Boasting 14 exquisite rooms, seven bathrooms, five functional fireplaces, and five flights of stairs—including the grand staircase in the magnificent great room—the Mansion also features a fully equipped kitchen. Its diverse spaces provide perfect settings for capturing getting-ready images, intricate details, intimate first looks, and rehearsal activities, offering an elegant backdrop to every moment.

I've had the pleasure of capturing numerous weddings at Peirce Farm at Witch Hill, and one of my favorite moments to photograph is the bride's preparation. The mansion houses a remarkable room on the second floor, truly a photographer's dream. It features several large, south-facing windows that bathe the space in warm, soft light, creating absolutely heavenly images.

The Farm Grounds

As hinted by its name, Peirce Farm is a true pastoral haven, spanning several acres of lush lawns, serene pastures, and gently wooded areas. This creates an ambiance that is both vast and intimate. The surrounding trees wonderfully craft a rustic, natural setting while also offering considerable privacy. The lawn is perfectly suited for outdoor wedding ceremonies with up to one hundred and fifty guests. Additionally, the outdoor spaces provide ideal backdrops for first looks, cocktail hours, and, of course, those all-important romantic portraits.

The Barn

The indoor event space at Peirce Farm, a barn and stables originally constructed in 1873 for Thomas Wentworth Peirce, offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern amenities. This meticulously restored barn provides a climate-controlled, open space that can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests. Featuring two cozy fireplaces, two convenient bathrooms, a spacious deck overlooking the fields, and a well-equipped kitchen, this transformed Victorian-era carriage house is truly breathtaking. The result is a venue that feels both spacious and intimate, perfectly suited to host not only your wedding ceremony but also the cocktail hour and reception, all within its inviting walls.
